Black Velvet won 1990 Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocalist. Third Canadian single released internationally on Atlantic Records’ Warner Music label in Canada, spring 1989 from her debut album eponymously titled ‘Alannah Myles”,
Black Velvet first reached number one (chosen over ‘Love Is’ by radio audiences) in Quebec in Canada where ‘Love Is’ reached number one throughout English speaking Canada on top 40 radio. Atlantic’s fourth U.S. single release held #1 with a bullet for 2 weeks on America’s Billboard Top 40 Chart in April,1990.
