    I have 2 questions i hope u will answer. How many times can i reuse my vanilla beans and where do u suggest purchasing vanilla paste, and vanilla bean pods from. Ive heard they can be purchased on line, i brought mine from Whole foods $20. For 2 bean pods

    I heard Gourmet Vanilla or Grade B contains less moisture than Grade A. Since I can find only Grade A can I use them for making the extract or would it be better to keep on looking for the other variety?

I started my own vanilla extract using your recipe to give as gifts to my best friends for are traditional Christmas baking this year 😊 my only worry is there seems to be floating white stuff inside the bottles. What is this ? Is this still ok ? Thank you so much. I just love love your channel ❤️

We have been doing extract this way for almost 15 years.  We use Brandy and find it works best for vanilla.  When the bottle gets down to under half, we add another split vanilla bean (without removing the old ones) and fill it back up with brandy (its a 1000ml bottle).  The large bottle we have now has over 8 years of beans still in it.  We eventually start a new bottle but remove most of the old beans and scrap any left overs from the bean and cook with it.  The leftovers are most powerful (several years in bottle) and make wild cookies  🙂   Nothing dies in Brandy  🙂
