  1. Carrots in clam chowder? I'm Ina Gartner and You're Not! I would add some minced garlic instead of carrots and a touch of butter milk. I might even fry the veggies in bacon fat and then add butter. I like the roux idea.

  2. I made this exactly per her recipe. The soup never thickened. Saw another recipe using half and half and it thickened perfectly. This recipe will not thicken. Don’t use this recipe unless you just want clam soup.
